OLESIA SHEWCHUK, Soprano
Olesia is a classically trained actor, singer, and dancer and has performed roles in theatre, operetta, musicals, TV and Film. Some of her favorite roles include Guenevere in Camelot (Deep Cove Stage); Fraulein Kost in Cabaret, Rapunzel in Into the Woods: In Concert (Royal City Music Theatre), the title role in The Merry Widow (North Shore Light Opera), Angelique in The Imaginary Invalid and Charlotte Bronte in We Are Three Sisters (United Players). She has performed as a guest soprano soloist for choirs and orchestras, including with the Vivaldi Chamber Choir and the Vancouver Folk Orchestra. She has appeared in TV roles on CTV, ABC, TLC, Discovery, Bravo, Fox21, Lifetime. Olesia also plays piano & guitar, and released a recording with her folk duet ensemble that has performed in Canada, the US and Ukraine.
CARLOS VELA-MARTINEZ, Tenor
Carlos’ musical roots are in vocal jazz, with years of classical voice study and a love of performance. His musical performances include Lancelot in Camelot (Deep Cove Theatre), El Gallo in The Fantasticks (Stage 43), a Quartet Sailor in Anything Goes (Royal City Musical Theatre) and Danilo in The Merry Widow (North Shore Light Opera). He’s performed in jazz quartets and sextets, and as a member of the VSO School of Music Opera Ensemble. His solo work includes singing with the Sinfonietta String Ensemble and the privilege of performing under the direction of Maestro Bramwell Tovey. He will be a soloist for the upcoming premiere of composer Brian Hoover’s new work Twelve Standing Stones. Carlos is also an accomplished sculptor, creating whimsical characters in plaster and resin, and enjoys making theatrical props and swords.
STELLA HADJINEOPHYTOU, Pianist
Stella has spent the last year living in Vancouver, away from her home town of London, UK. She has enjoyed making music in Canada as the Director of Music at St Matthias and St Luke's Anglican Church and providing private music tuition in voice, piano, organ and music theory. She graduated last year from Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge, where she read music and held both an academic scholarship and the position of organ scholar, studying under Stephen Farr. Whilst there, she was responsible for assisting the running of the college chapel choir, directing and planning music, accompanying the weekly chapel services and organising various international tours. Stella is an accomplished violinist, harpsichordist and conductor, having studied for eight years at the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music in London.
